What is the difference between a fireplace stove, a hot water stove, and a pellet stove?

Pellet stoves differ from traditional stoves mainly in their fuel source and method of operation. Pellet stoves burn wood pellets, which have a high calorific value, while traditional stoves usually burn wood or other solid fuels.

Pellet stoves are often fully automatic, with the ability to set the temperature and automatically dose the fuel, which ensures stable and efficient heating. Traditional stoves require manual operation and fuel addition, which can be more time-consuming and maintenance-intensive.

In hot-water stoves, part of the heat is transferred to the heating system through the exchanger, so you can heat other rooms via radiators or, for example, heat water in an accumulation tank. Thanks to this, the stove can serve as the main source of heating.

What stove output is suitable for my house or apartment?

To calculate the required stove output, we need to know several factors. The size of the room and its volume. The larger the room, the greater the stove output required for heating. All this can be calculated easily, just use this formula:

1kW of fireplace stove or fireplace insert output heats up to approximately 20 m3.

This formula applies to older, non-insulated houses and apartments! In current insulated new buildings, we can assume that

1 kW of fireplace stove or fireplace insert heats up to approximately 40 m3.
